Welcome!

About Encounter Freedom

A prayer ministry  that expects to see God lovingly bring each person into a greater freedom from past hurts and fears and into a deeper understanding of the reality of being a child of God,  special and favoured.

What to expect

You will meet with two of our team, and what is shared is confidential*.

The team will introduce themselves to you.  One will lead the time with you and the other will be praying throughout the session.  The leader will ask what it is that has brought you along and will listen carefully to what you say.  Once you have shared your story the leader may ask you some questions to be sure that you have been understood.

Hurts, fears and lies

Although everyone has a unique story, often (but not always) our unique story of hurts and failures has had an impact on us that touches on 5 key areas**.

  • Our need to forgive or be forgiven
  • Lies we’ve believed & behaviour patterns we’ve adopted
  • Trusting God and believing what he says
  • Taking responsibility for ourselves
  • Seeing ourselves as God sees us

The prayer leader will listen to your story with these keys in mind.  Before praying with you, they will help you see if any of the keys are relevant to your story, and then, with your agreement, will pray with you going through these keys.

Guidance

If you are seeking God’s guidance, the prayer leader will listen, and then together with you will provide a time of quiet in God’s presence.  What comes from that time of quiet will form the basis of prayer.

A session normally lasts 1-1½ hours.

Notes

There are legal limitations to our confidentiality.  If you tell our team members anything that gives them reason to believe:

  1. that an identifiable child (who is presently under 18 years of age) has been abused, or
  2. that you or another person is presently in danger, or
  3. that dangerous criminal activity could be prevented,

this information would need to be communicated to the relevant authorities.
